SDCC: Day 1
Greetings all! First of our SDCC reports here!
Yesterday was Preview Night, the night all us lucky people who managed to grab passes get to look at the Exhibit Hall before the masses descend on San Diego. I had my eyes set on the BBC America booth and the Get Sherlock shirt.
So did everyone else.
By the time we got in there the line was already capped and we were told to come back later. So we did. Three times. And each time were greeted by the same douchecanoe who kept changing where the line ended. Other booths were saying lines were closed only an hour and a half into the night, but BBC America Man refused to close the line, just said it was capped… or rather yelled it. He wasn’t helpful at all and it was a bit of a disaster.
After trying three times, myself, Sherlock DC’s Lacy, her friend Chris, & Cara decided to flip the bird to BBC America Man and went to get pasta and prepare for SherlockeDCC. We’ll try again today, though people have been lining up to get into the Exhibit Hall all night.
I just want to give BBC America my money. TAKE MY MONEY!
Today, Thursday, is Sherlock Day. Ballroom 20, Nerd HQ, and SherlockeDCC. People have been in line for Sherlock since yesterday afternoon and the line is currently so large they’re in the Hall H queue (because, ironically, no one is really IN the Hall H queue). X-Files panel is a large part of the crowd too.
Ballroom 20 holds nearly 5,000 people, but the trick about SDCC is that people don’t have to leave once the panel is done, they can stay for the next one and the next one. So, to better your chances to get in, you’ve got to get there early. Some of our followers have been there since 1:30 this morning, others arriving just an hour or so ago. The Sherlock panel isn’t until 2:15 PDT, so they’ve got a long wait ahead of them. However, if what our friend at BBC Worldwide says is true, those who get into the Sherlock panel are in for a massive treat.
I’m hoping for Series 3 footage myself. I’ll be livetweeting to the best of my abilities over at @BakerStBabes, but be aware they may ask us not to reveal things (though I’m sure multiple people will be videoing, etc). We say that anything released officially are not spoilers, but depending on what is shown (if anything), we’ll decide what to do with it. So those of you who want to be completely in the dark don’t have to have that ruined for you. If we do post it’ll be behind a cut anyways.
Nerd HQ panel is ticketed, so no waiting there. Only 250 seats will give it a much cozier feel. I don’t know if the content will be all that different, but I’ll be livetweeting that as well. It’s at 5PM PDT.
SherlockeDCC is tonight. Nearly 400 people and a LOT of swag, custom Sherlock drinks, photo booth, games, giveaways, raffles… oh dear lord. We have a lot of press covering it, so photos will be all over your dash, I’m sure. There’s also the hashtag #SherlockeDCC on twitter if you want to follow. That’s from 7-10PM tonight PDT.
OK. Off to deliver some coffee and bagels to those in line!
