SherlockeDCC 2014
In 2013 The Baker Street Babes, Being Geek Chic, The Nerdy Girlie, SherlockDC, and Cara McGee set off to do the crazy task of throwing a party at San Diego Comic Con. This year, we did it again, and we did it bigger and better! Despite not having a presence beyond the BBC America booth this year, Sherlock was still incredibly popular and ready to party. On July 25th, 500 attendees and guests rode to the top of the beautiful San Diego Public Library to SherlockeDCC. Overlooking San Diego, we danced, laughed, and partied the night away with music, food, themed drinks (Shezzarita anyone?), a photo booth, a nail salon, a raffle, art and merch, GoPop demos, nail wraps from Espionage, and a rather cheeky game of “Shoot Sherlock.”
This year’s SherlockeDCC would not have been possible without all the amazing companies that sponsored us, provided products, and chatted about the event online and on air. Special love goes out to GoPop TV, Espionage Cosmetics, FYeahCopyright, Gold Bubble Clothing, High Voltage Magazine, Quirk Books, New Paradigm Studios, and Adagio Teas. Food and drinks were provided by Bekker’s and the photobooth was from Pixster’s.
It’s a crazy thing to see something you’ve been planning for months happen, to see everyone enjoying themselves. San Diego Comic Con is a crazy place and there is a LOT to do there, so the fact so many of you came to our party as opposed to the other 500 happening the same night is a fabulous thing, and we are nothing but humbled by it. We also like to think we throw a great party! I wanted to take a moment to thank all our volunteers who helped setting up, checking tickets, running stations, and cleaning up. You’re all amazing. So thank you to Elly, Dylan, Lisa, Keeleigh, Harriet, Adalisa, Gina, Sarah, Josh, Amber, Lori, Amber, Adam, Ryan , JD, Brooke, Tomika, Shelby, Ivy, and Megan.
SherlockeDCC has goodie bags for every single attendee and our raffle had contributions from amazing artists, crafters, and companies. Special shout out to Hartswood Films who sent us exclusive t-shirts and the full set of Sherlock books for the raffle! Contributors were: radiocrist, reapersun, artbylexie, detectivelyd, Cara McGee, Jackie Lewis, Fox Estacado, House of Darkly, Buneesi, machomachi, Andrea Kendrick, Veronica Nunez, Sora Reyes, Chris Schweizer, Gina Jasinski, Atelier Ciel, Elope Inc, and Geek Threads.
While no Sherlock members were able to attend this year, we know many of our attendees were delighted when Supernatural actor Osric Chau stopped by. Members from PBS were also in attendance as well as many members of the press including Rolling Stone, The Daily Dot, and The Daily Quirk.
SherlockeDCC was amazing this year, and we’re already looking forward to bringing 221B back to SDCC for 2015!
