The Sherlockian Hallyu Wave: Farewell From The Baker Street Babes

Well… it’s time to pack up.

It finds us all in the end… The Hallyu Wave. The name given to the spread and appreciation of Korean pop music and dramas, the Hallyu Wave has been a large part of all of our lives for a very long time. We’ve tried to ignore it, we’ve tried to understand it. Is it the pulsing dance beats? The exquisite choreography? Is it the dramatic pauses and gazes into one another’s eyes?! It’s all of it. A L L  O F  I T.

You may have heard a rumor that our fearless leader, Curly, is moving to South Korea. Why she is actually making the journey east… well we haven’t been fully upfront about that. Sora and Curly spent three weeks on a covert mission last August making careful study of the popular culture of South Korea, learning and perfecting the craft of synchronized dancing, body rolls, and how to properly eat ramyun so hot it burns your tastebuds off. Since then we have all been hard at work in our transition from a Sherlockian podcast to something with far more hip swaying.

From this day forward, we will be known as…

 The 베이커 스트리트 Babes

Yes, we are becoming a KPOP Girl Group.

We are really excited to finally bring you this news! It wasn’t hard to convince everyone to form the group; Curly has slowly and deliberately been flooding everyone’s ears with KPOP for months and watching music videos of the likes of XIA, Girls Generation, and BIG BANG have become mandatory homework. We had to learn everything we could, because we intend to be the very best. No one would be able to body roll better than us!

This is what we are striving for, GREATNESS!

This is what we are striving for, GREATNESS!

Our first single will be released on April 1, 2017 and is called STACHE STACHE STACHE, in honor of John Watson’s mustache. We wanted to stay true to ourselves while starting on this new venture, and so we will be bringing you many Sherlock Holmes based tracks and inspired MVs in the coming years.

You can’t deny that’s Sherlockian appreciation isn’t rampant in South Korea. Honestly, we don’t understand why we didn’t make the leap sooner! All you have to do is google “South Korea” + “Sherlock Holmes” and you’ll find a few pages of random things that prove our point! For starters, have you seen the Korean Sherlock trailers?

Majesty! A match made in heaven! Only South Korea is properly able to fully realize Sherlock, move over BBC!

Our decision to become a KPOP sensation has been a long one coming; less than one year after we formed, the group SHINee came out with a song and music video called Sherlock. It was the first sign that we needed to fully realize our potential. If you have not been graced with this life changing MV, I suggest you prepare yourself and watch this. As you do so, feel yourself growing addicted to the world of KPOP… don’t be scared… it’s OK.

If this isn’t enough to convince you that South Korea and Sherlock are a match made in heaven, let us enlighten you over a cup of tea in the Sherlock Cafe in Gangnam.

More information on this beautiful creation and our future headquarters can be found [HERE].

The point is, this is a logical step, and Sherlock Holmes is all about logic. Of COURSE The Baker Street Babes needs to become a KPOP girl group. The only question is, why did it take us so long? We’ve struggled in the past with who we really wanted to be, our stint as The Sugar Bush Babes was fervent but ultimately unsuccessful and while as The Old Spice Babes we did capture the attention and heart of Old Spice Man Isaiah Moustafa himself, our attempts and making him our official mascot failed. But this… this is right.

So help us say goodbye to The Baker Street Babes and 안녕하세요! to The 베이커 스트리트 Babes!
