Ladies and gentlemen and delightful folk from hither and yon, we regret to report that the Baker Street Babes’ very first Baker Street Irregulars Weekend (http://www.bakerstreetjournal.com/bsiweekend/schedule.html) event, the Daintiest Thing Under a Bonnet Charity Ball, is already sold out! (http://bakerstreetbabes.brownpapertickets.com/) But we hereby extend both a prizewinning offer and a request to the wonderful world of Sherlock Holmes fandom…
First of all, we hereby present this link to enter to win a FREE TICKET TO THE BALL! https://docs.google.com/a/bakerstreetbabes.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGJ1TkhteWE4cGFuY1E1cnZRZW5vMHc6MQ
The free ticket is offered by Sherlockian Army Wife Erin, who regrets her own absence and will now tell her own incredible story:
“Hello! My name is Erin W. I am a 26 year old US Army Wife. I am also a HUGE Sherlock Holmes Fan. My husband, Brian, is a RedLeg Cannoneer who is currently deployed. We are high school sweethearts from Chicago who have moved a bunch of times across the nation. We have a baby girl named Pearl, and she is soon turning 1 year old. Her father misses her. I gotta tell ya, it has been a long year. As you can see, I am not prepared for a Baker Street Babes Ball in New York, even one for a great project like Wounded Warrior. But we want to support those who came before, during, and after our stay in the military. They sacrificed for our nation’s enduring freedom.
These men and women are heroes to us.
So, we bought one ticket.
We want someone to go in my place. We want to see someone have Holmesian fun while I feed Pearl’s addiction to Jeremy Brett. We are handing over my ticket to The Baker Street Babes for a lucky person to win. We also encourage everyone to support the Wounded Warrior Project by going to the The Daintiest Thing Under a Bonnet Charity Ball. Have fun and may the odds be ever in your favor!”
As you have seen, all profits from our fundraiser will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project, (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/individual-fundraising/bakerstreetbabes) whose mission is to honor and empower wounded warriors, and whose vision is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation’s history.
Which leads usto our second request…do you create fan art? Crafts? Stickers? Dolls? Anything and everything wonderful? Because we would LOVE to feature any work you would care to donate as swag for the winners of the raffle, auction, quiz, and costume competition! If you would care to make a contribution to help wounded veterans, please consider contacting the Babes and sending your beautiful works to NYC, where they will be fawned over by Sherlockians galore, and where your contribution will make a difference for truly worthy cause. We owe inspiration for this event to those who tirelessly serve our countries, and to Dr. John Watson, army doctor, whose recovery from the ravages of the Second Afghan War once required the help of an extraordinary friend.
Many thanks from all the Babes, and best wishes for a tremendous holiday season!
